Comfort for the Addlepated

“I am sorry that God has heaped more sickness upon you, but I am certain that by God’s grace you are one of those rare birds who take the word of God very seriously and are faithful to the kingdom of Christ. I also know that your health and activity can be useful and comforting to us all, especially among so many addlepated persons. But if God wishes you to be sick, his will is surely better than ours. After all, even that noblest and most innocent will of our Lord had to be subject to the higher and supremely good will of his dear Father. Let us be cheerful, or at least patient, in submitting to his will. Amen.” Letters of Spiritual Counsel, Martin Luther. P. 39.
