Serotonin and Depression Advertising

Here is a great article on the difference between advertising and science regarding serotonin and depression medications.

The authors state that “contemporary neuroscience research has failed to confirm any serotonergic lesion in any mental disorder and has in fact provided significant counterevidence to the explanation of simple neurotransmitter deficiency….To our knowledge, there is not a single peer-reviewed article that can be accurately cited to directly support claims of serotonin deficiency in any mental disorder.” PLoS Medicine is the online medical journal of the Public Library of Science. (Charles Hodges, Good Mood Bad Mood, p. 20).
